Academics

Southwest Tennessee Community College is a comprehensive, multicultural, public, open-access college. It provides students with an effective teaching and learning environment designed to raise educational levels, enhance economic development, and enrich personal lives. We feature associate degrees as well as certification programs in all of the leading industries. Southwest is a Tennessee Board of Regents institution, accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. 

Southwest was recently ranked number one in the top 100 Associate Degree producers for total minorities in business operations support and assistant services. We've also ranked number two in the top 100 Associate Degree producers for African-Americans in business operations support and assistant services. We are proud of our newly-constructed Nursing, Natural Sciences, and Biotechnology Building.

You'll find excellent Advising and Counseling at Southwest, which is essential guidance for academic success. We have an Academic Support Center which offers free tutoring, technology enrichment, and other resources, as well as a Student Activities and Multicultural Affairs office to promote student participation in extracurricular, cultural, athletic and community activities.

Student Activities and Multicultural Affairs provides diverse programming that aids in the development of the student through student involvement in extracurricular activities, leadership, cultural, athletic, and community activities. Between our student clubs and organizations, student government, student publications, cheerleading, and intramural sports, you'll find something fun to do between classes.
