Our mission is to help our students reach their full potential as educated citizens and worldwide servant leaders by integrating academic excellence and Christian commitment within a caring community. The student-faculty ratio at Carson-Newman University is 13:1, and the school has 55.2 percent of its classes with fewer than 20 students. The most popular majors at Carson-Newman University include: Education, Health Professions and Related Programs, Business, Management, Marketing, and Related Support Services, Visual and Performing Arts and Psychology. We offer 50 undergraduate majors and 11 graduate degrees. The University offers vast study-abroad and mission opportunities, internships, thriving Honors and Eagle Scholars programs and a nationally recognized honors society. Carson-Newman offers rigorous preparation for professional and health professions, including dentistry, law, medicine, business and physical therapy. Our graduate and adult studies programs give students a flexible educational experience compatible with their busy lives.


Student Life

There are numerous clubs and organizations that you can select from when looking to be a part of what is going on at C-N. The purposes and affiliations of these groups vary across a spectrum that includes service, faith, social, professional, and departmental. Besides the opportunities and experiences presented within these groups, there is also the chance to take part in the many activities and events these groups are responsible for and that are hosted on campus throughout the year.

Our 120-acre campus is just 30 minutes away from eclectic Knoxville, world-renowned Oak Ridge National Laboratory and near the Great Smoky Mountains National Park – the most popular park in the nation.
Two lakes and a state park also surround Carson-Newman’s campus.Carson Newman University has a variety of housing options ranging from traditional (dorm style) housing to apartment living. First year students live in one of our First Year Experience residence halls, while returning students and transfer students may request to live elsewhere.  All of our residence halls include laundry facilities, and communal TV rooms, and most include communal kitchens.
