Academics

Students are formed individually and in Christian community so that the harmonious integration between faith and reason can permeate every dimension of their lives. Immersed in exploring the relationship between human civilization and the message of salvation, the College community embraces the Dominican imperative to preach the Gospel, serve others, and engage culture in truth and charity.

Founded in 1961 by the Dominican Sisters of St. Cecilia Congregation, Aquinas College is located on a scenic 90-acre campus in the heart of Nashville and is the only four-year Catholic liberal arts college in middle and east Tennessee.

Student Life

Our history, our academic approach and our campus culture are rooted in the Catholic faith. This means a whole-person approach to education will help you question, challenge and understand the world in a bigger, bolder way. If you are Catholic, you will have daily opportunities to immerse yourself in the sacramental life. And if you’re not, you will experience a faith-filled campus that’s deeply committed to helping you grow and thrive.

Buongiorno!

Aquinas students have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to study at Villaggio Betania in Bracciano, Italy, a lakeside Medieval castle town near Rome. And because the campus is owned and operated by our own Dominican Sisters, the Villaggio is truly a home-away-from-home for students seeking a unique college experience.

A House to Call Home

Every member of our community – students, faculty and staff – is assigned to one of eight “houses” that meet for a weekly meal, host speakers and compete with other houses in athletic and community service competitions. Our House Life program creates strong community bonds and connections that last a lifetime.

Want to Live on Campus?

Welcome home. Aquinas offers an easy walk to shopping, dining, public transportation and more, plus a gorgeous city-wide greenway trail running right through our backyard. While our location is convenient for commuters, many students prefer the housing and dining options available on campus. Residential living and learning together at Aquinas is an opportunity to make lifelong friends, participate fully in our close-knit community and grow in faith.

International Student Testimonials

“With the support that I received from the Aquinas community and with a little effort on my part, I was able to find my place here, to find who I really am, and to find what I really want to make of my life. Aquinas was the best decision. It was a safe place for me to get my bearings and start my life in the U.S. I know there are other good schools, but here I feel safe and content and at home.” —Mary-Frances, Nigeria
